Sick Man of the West

Julius Streicher founded Der Stürmer in 1923. It was very anti-Semitic. The above cartoon depicts Germany as a heavily injured man with various casts and bandages representing the treaties and international agreements such as the Treaty of Versailles, the Young Plan, the Locarno Treaties, etc. The caption reads:  “I can give him another injection. In the state he’s in, he won’t notice anything at all.” The doctor is a Jewish caricature.

How reliable is this cartoon as a reflection of German sentiments during that period?
