My colleague and I once met a parent of a problematic student. The man was a single parent and he was not a very pleasant man.
At our first meeting, his first words to me were, “Your school renovate until like that ah..” He waved dismissively at the newly renovated school. I remained silent.
In our second meeting a year later, he kept name dropping the Minister for Education.
The man kept alluding to conversations he had with the Minister.
For example, he would say, “I asked Minister why…and he said lack of resources..”
Finally, I could not help but ask him how he knew the Minister for Education.
His reply was classic:
“I know him but he does not know me!”
For the sake of his mental health, I hope the man was not having imaginary conversations with the Minister!
