In university, I gave English tuition to a girl from a secondary school in the West. She lived in Jurong East near IMM and then when her family moved to Whampoa in her Sec 4 year, I continued the tuition all the way until her O-levels.
The memories of the lessons that we had are all forgotten except for one. She thought that a diplomat was what you called a diploma holder. Sorry, but I found that quite funny...
I still remember she called to tell me her O-level results. I was in using a flip phone, so you can imagine how long ago this was.
She had a C5 for English but she still sounded quite cheerful. She was by nature a cheerful person.
That phone call was the last I heard from her.
