不吵不相识

Once, I walked past a bus stop when I saw a student from a school where I taught for a while. Our eyes met. "Hey, you are _______________ (his name), right? You once argued with me." I said.

This student and I had a contest of wills in the classroom. The boy had tried to be funny during the school's emergency drill and had talked back when I reprimanded him.

This incident is my only memory of him. The boy nodded. "I'm teaching in another school now." I said. "I know." He said.

I bade the boy farewell and he called out after me: "'Cher, that time pai seh ah."

I turned back and replied: "It's no big deal."
