THE CHAIR

‘Twas many years ago that a Sec 2 student threw a chair at me. It was during a time when I was an Flexi Adjunct in a school which had this rule that students had to turn in their phones during lessons in a comp lab. During a lesson, I asked for their phones.

For some reason, one of the students did not want to do so. I insisted and he finally threw a chair at me. But the chair was thrown at an oblique angle and never hit me.

The boy stomped out and I remember shouting to the class: “You see! People like them…they always leave!”

Years later, I met the boy on the bus. He was probably 18 or 19?

We chatted and I reminded him that he had once threw a chair at me. He sheepishly said: “Last time very naughty.”
