There was one year when I was the form teacher of a Sec 1 Normal Technical class. On the last day of school, they played interclass dodgeball.
The game reached a point where the other class had only one person standing. My class had 3 boys and 1 girl. So it was four versus one.
The other class’s survivor was someone with special needs. My class could have taken advantage of their numerical superiority and physical strength.
Instead of hurling the ball, they threw it gently to avoid hurting their opponent.
That was chivalrous!
After dodgeball, we went back to the classroom as a class for one last time before the class party at the canteen.
In the classroom on that day, I told the class: "If you guys work together, you can accomplish anything. If I can choose from any of the Sec 1s in Singapore - whether Express, NA or NT - I will definitely pick you guys!"
